Event Details:
Join rock art enthusiast Kevin Davie on a fascinating journey from Africa’s ancient rock art sites to the galleries of the Global North, where these works inspired modernist artists such as Pablo Picasso. Davie will explore the expeditions of German ethnologist Leo Frobenius, who between 1904 and 1933 made over 1,000 copies of African rock art, showcasing their influence on modern art movements. Despite global acclaim, this African heritage remains largely underappreciated back home.
